If you've gone on Instagram even once within the last month and follow even one fashion blogger, you've probably been bombarded with people obsessing over the vest.
If you have no idea what I'm talking about, let me enlighten you. J.Crew came out with a really cute herringbone puffer vest last season, tons of people bought it, and they took it off the shelves after the season was over. About a month ago, J.Crew restocked this sacred vest, and everyone treated it like they just came out with the newest version of the iPhone (5s? 6? 42?).
There are certain pieces that tons of people obsess over and, consequently, they end up becoming way overplayed after a month. I tend to stay away from things like that because I know I'll regret spending my money on them, but I just can't figure out why I want this vest so badly.
I've always been into the look of those kinds of vests, but what's so special about this one? The pattern? The fact that it's from J.Crew? The fact that it costs as much as buying about 50 Dunkin Donuts iced coffees? I'll never know. But I want it.
Realistically, I'll never buy this. It's not still going to be around once I have a larger amount of disposable income, and my budget simply won't allow it now. But I can still look at all the cool ways that these bitc.... I mean, girls, styled it. (Jealousy is an ugly emotion.)
To make myself feel better, I put together a little compilation of other fun and less expensive herringbone items that might ease the pain of never being able to own this cool ass vest.
(patiently waiting for that Madewell sweater to go on sale...... obsessed.)
What's your take on "the vest"? Or better yet, do you own it?!
